“Big talented Billy Forrest, South Africa’s top country and western star is at present … in Durban, playing nightly at the El Paso. He’ll be here five months in all, finishing off at the end of this month. After his season here he’ll be touring Rhodesia – topping a package tour – with his new backing group, THE BROTHERS, which he recently formed down here. After Rhodesia it’ll be Cape Town in January (1965)… ” (Source: Debonaire, 15 October 1964)
Billy Forrest’s response, 6 December 2011:
“I used the Brothers at El Paso and also the Rhodesian Tour. They were: Dave Pollecutt – Lead Guitar / Dick Pollecutt – Rhythm Guitar / Ian “Spider” Murch – bass and Pat Hawthorn on drums. We called them the Veterans* on the recording only, same guys.” Regards. B.F.
